Revolutionary Thought in the Twentieth Century

This classic text of writings by the foremost revolutionaries of our age, Marx, Lenin, Mao Tse Tung, Le Duan, Che Guevara and many others, has been out of print for many years. It has now been reprinted in response to much demand from activists and others who seem to feel that the book covers a legacy which should not be forgotten.

Although the book was produced in England, one copy  was smuggled into  Robben Island where it was copied out by hand and used for study group purposes. It has since become a standard text within the ANC Alliance.

Readers may ask why this book has re-emerged after all these years, and indeed the papers were all written long ago when revolutionary thought and action was a world wide phenomenon.

The answer seems to be that many people believe that although the present period is marked by social stability, this may be a temporary phenomenon, and that fundamental change may still be on the agenda in many countries. This is because the capitalist system tends to generate crises which in turn bring social turbulence. Hence, even if the forces for change are different to those operating in the previous century, when revolution was evident in all continents and particular in the Third World, the theories which underpin  revolution remain relevant.

The book is available from Ben Turok at R 120. 00
